More than a Gym
What makes the Y different than other wellness organizations? We have all the facilities and programming for you to get fit, stay healthy, and exceed your goals, of course. But did you know that the Y also supports the community through programs that combat child hunger and support equity initiatives? So, yes, the Y is a place to get healthy in spirit, mind, body, but we are also a center for community, an advocate for the underserved, a supporter of social justice, and a cause for good.
Membership Types
Our numerous membership types serve everyone, from individuals to families. Learn about their attributes and choose which membership will work best.
Financial Assistance
The Y is committed to helping everyone achieve their potential. Income-based financial assistance is available to help cover the cost of membership.
Community Impact
Members not only have access to our facilities and programs, you are supporting your neighbors and strengthening your community through our community programs like Feed-A-Child and volunteer opportunities.
Our Facilities and Amenities
As a Y member, you have access to our two wellness centers and childcare offerings. Indoor heated swimming pools, an outdoor community pool, state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment, 2-hour and all-day childcare, group exercise and cycling studios, and full-size gymnasiums, are just some of our offerings. There's something for every interest! More information is included below. For site-specific details, click on either the "Locations" or "Child Care" tabs in the top menu.
Swim Lessons
Our experienced Aquatics team welcomes all who wish to learn water safety and swimming techniques and who want to swim competitively! We offer parent and child swim lessons, preschool lessons, school-age lessons, private swim lessons, and Frogs Swim Team. Additional lessons are offered during the summer at Riverside Pool. Our Greg Schrader "Swim with a Smile" program provides low-cost lessons to the community and free lessons to those who financially qualify.
Pools, Whirlpool, & Steam Rooms
Our Downtown Branch is well known for housing our aquatic facilities! The East Pool is our open pool housing family swim, swim lessons, and aquatic aerobics classes. We also provide pool toys, noodles, and floaties. The West Pool offers five lap swimming lanes and hosts our FROGS Swim Team and water volleyball. Our adults-only Whirlpool in the East Pool area is a member favorite for those looking for a muscle-relaxing soak. Steam Rooms in the men's and women's locker rooms are adults only and offer warm relaxation. Riverside Pool, an outdoor public pool, is on McManness Avenue.
Lifeguarding Certifications
The Findlay Family Y offers the American Red Cross course at least three times a year to swimmers ages 15 and older. Certain requirements apply. For instance, candidates must be able to swim 300 yards, tread water for two minutes without hands, and retrieve a five-pound brick from the bottom of the deep end. Certification is valid for two years. Trainings are free for those wanting to become a YMCA lifeguard. We're frequently hiring, especially for the summer months when Riverside Pool requires staffing!
Cardiovascular & Strength Equipment
With top-of-the-line equipment and a full range of strength and free weights, the Y is the place to get strong.
Cardio Equipment
Our Downtown and East branches offer a range of cardio equipment, perfect for the newcomer or a seasoned marathoner. Both branches maintain treadmills, stationary bikes, Stairmaster Climbers, eliptical trainers, Nustep machines, and rowing machines.
Free Weights & Weight Machines
While both branches are designed to meet your overall fitness goals, each branch has its own unique offerings. They offer Precor weight machines, squat racks, Smith machines, dumbbells, benches, flat and decline bench presses, and multi-functional cable setups.
Indoor Walking Track
At the Downtown Branch, our Indoor Walking Track has many uses! Perfect warming up before a vigorous workout, cooling down afterward, dynamic stretching, and strolling with expansive second-floor views of our beautiful neighborhood, the track is a favored wellness amenity for many of our members and guests.
Being a Y member means benefiting from numerous opportunities. Below are more methods to help you navigate and enhance your lifelong improvement journey.
