HELP FIGHT CRIME AT THE YMCA
This is not a piece to be taken lightly. It’s not a P.R. piece to sell the YMCA and it certainly isn’t a piece that “feels good”. It IS what it takes to make the YMCA a better place for everyone.
A certain amount of crime is always going to happen regardless of what we do to prevent it but with your help, we can make a huge difference and make the YMCA a safer place for everyone:
MYTH #1: The YMCA is a Christian organization so crime is not likely.
TRUTH: People of all faiths commit crimes
MYTH #2: Only kids steal things.
TRUTH: People of all ages commit crimes.
MYTH #3: Locking valuables in your car means they are safe from theft.
TRUTH: While your car may be safer than placing your valuables in a locker or on the floor, they are an invitation to thieves when left in plain sight.
MYTH #4: Security is ONLY the responsibility of the YMCA
TRUTH: The YMCA accepts responsibility for providing you a safe place to be but we need your help.
1. Report suspicious behavior immediately.
2. Keep your valuables well protected.
3. Be prepared to press charges when we have the opportunity to prosecute.
