About Frogs

The Findlay YMCA swim team is a competitive swimming program. To join, swimmers must be capable of swimming one length of the pool of freestyle and backstroke unassisted (without any flotation aid or grabbing the walls or lane ropes).

For those who are unsure about making a commitment, the swim team offers a two-week trial program, allowing young athletes to try out the sport and make an informed decision before registering.

Additional information can be found on the SportsEngine website. Each session, registration is done through the YMCA registration portal and on SportsEngine. There are three sessions per year: Winter (September – March), Spring (April – May), and Summer (June – July).

At the start of each session, swimmers are assessed for placement onto the team and in the appropriate practice group. Practice groups are assigned based on ability, maturity, focus, and level of commitment. Placement in the optimal training group is done for individual development, as well as the needs of the training group. You can find group descriptions, expectations, and requirements on our SportsEngine website.

In the Club

In October 2025, the Frogs achieved USA Swimming’s Safe Sport Club Recognition status! This recognition, earned through developing and implementing club policies, reporting mechanisms, and specific training – all of which were reviewed by USA Swimming Safe Sport staff - reflects our dedication to making the sport of swimming a healthy and positive environment, free from abuse.

There are currently only 10 other swim clubs in Ohio that have also achieved this recognition, accounting for only 12% of all Ohio Swimming clubs. We are the 2nd YMCA-based program in Ohio to reach this status. We joined the Bowling Green Swim Club to be the only two Safe Sport-recognized clubs in Northwest Ohio.

We are pleased to have achieved this milestone and to publicly demonstrate our commitment to providing a Safe Sport environment on this team. Congratulations to our swimmers, parents, coaches, and everyone involved in our Findlay YMCA swim team program for helping achieve this honor!

Even after the season has started, it's never too late to join the swim team! For more information, contact Head Coach Jeff Wobser at JWobser@findlayymca.com.

Lindsay's Law Info

Who is Lindsay?

Senate Bill 252 is named for national heart health advocate and former Miss Ohio Lindsay Davis who suffers from a heart condition and has since dedicated her career to raising awareness of this potentially fatal condition.

"Sudden cardiac arrest is the number one killer of student athletes," said Davis. "At any moment I could have died because coaches and teachers had no idea this was even a possibility for someone who looked as healthy as I did at that age."

Lindsay’s Law

Lindsay’s Law, Ohio Revised Code 3313.5310, 3707.58 and 3707.59 went into effect in 2017.

In accordance with this law, the Ohio Department of Health, the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Cardiology and other stakeholders jointly developed guidelines and other relevant materials to inform and educate students and youth athletes participating in or desiring to participate in an athletic activity, their parents, and their coaches about the nature and warning signs of sudden cardiac arrest.
