An Easter Message from CEO Steve

April 1, 2021

Easter Greetings from Your YMCA Board and Staff!

This weekend the Christian world will celebrate Easter. Over the many years I have been involved with the YMCA, I have thought often about how our Christian values, which guide our programming and work, might not only survive but thrive in an ever-changing and complex world. I continue to believe that the need for the YMCA and our mission-based, values-driven programming has never been more needed and important than it is today!

The Easter season is a time of hope for a better tomorrow. Years ago, someone suggested that the YMCA in the community is an island of hope in a sea of opportunities. I believe this is especially true during these moments. Our mission is strong, as we continue to forge our new path. We are hosting blood drives, cooperating with partners to provide food to about 600 young people and families each weekend and are offering online videos of fitness programs and senior activities so that we remain connected, all while so many of our members have returned safely to activities, exercise classes and youth sports.

It’s springtime, and beginning April 5, we embark on our Annual Campaign. As a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the community, the Y has a need to raise charitable funds. These funds ensure all community members have access to the Y and advance programs that address community needs in the areas of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The annual campaign is the Y’s way of raising sustainable charitable gifts from members and the community, but it’s more than just fundraising awareness. The annual campaign brings together staff at all levels, committed volunteers, Y members, and donors to pursue a common objective: ensuring that our Y has the resources to make an enduring impact right here in Findlay and across Hancock County.  There will be several ways to contribute and give back - through social media, at the Y during member donor events, or a friend stopping by to ask for your support.  This year, please consider sharing your gifts with the YMCA and helping us all live our mission.

Please join me this weekend in the hope that we will welcome you back to the Y soon if we have not already. Until then, your Y Board of Directors and staff join you in looking forward to the coming Easter weekend, the arrival of warmer temperatures. Best wishes to you and your family for a safe, healthy and blessed Easter weekend. We look forward to seeing you at the YMCA often, our hearts and our doors are open.

Happy Easter to you and your family.
