After a nationwide search conducted by the Ohio Alliance of YMCAs and YMCA of the USA, the Findlay YMCA Board of Directors has selected Steve Crone, as the next CEO. Steve will begin his duties on September 8, where he will succeed retiring CEO, Paul Worstell. The Board of Directors is grateful for Paul’s outstanding service to the Y over the past three years and thank him for his time and dedication.

Steve most recently served as District Executive Director for the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, leading five branches and nine childcare/day camp sites with accountability for $10.3 million operating budget, within the association. Prior to serving in Cleveland, he was the CEO of the YMCA of Bucyrus-Tiffin for 9 ½ years providing cause-driven leadership to Tiffin, Bucyrus, and surrounding communities. He led the Tiffin and Bucyrus YMCAs through a Management Agreement that ultimately led to the merger of the two Ys.

In addition to statewide involvement serving on the Ohio Alliance of YMCAs council and foundation board, Steve served on the YMCA of the USA Small & Mid-Size Y Cabinet for 6 years while remaining an active member of the planning committee for the Small and Mid-Size Y National Conference. In addition, Steve was named the Ohio Alliance of YMCAs 2018 CEO of the Year.

Christy Kisseberth, YMCA Board Member served as chair of the CEO Search Committee said, “We are excited to have Steve join the Findlay YMCA. With Steve’s wealth of experience serving at other YMCAs, his familiarity with the Findlay area, and his cause-driven leadership he is positioned well to lead our Y and collaborate with others to meet the needs of our community.”

A native of the United Kingdom, Crone earned a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise Studies, participated in multiple leadership programs within the Y movement and with non-profit organizations including Leadership Seneca County and Y USA’s Executive Development Institute. Steve said “Every day, the YMCA’s impact is felt, when friends socialize and chat after an aquatic exercise class, when children learn new skills, make friends and build confidence in our childcare. For 20 years, I have been fortunate to lead cause-driven YMCAs and I am honored to have been given the opportunity to lead an organization to which I am deeply connected, and serve as the next CEO of the Findlay YMCA. I am thankful for the faith the board has placed in me and the Findlay YMCA’s strong foundation of community service to build on. I would like to recognize Paul Worstell (retiring CEO) for his dedication to mission and staff, and the solid ground the Y is on due to his leadership.” Steve and his wife April, have three children and will be relocating to Findlay as he begins his new leadership role with the Y.
