Riverside Pool Tentative Reopening

Opening Date and Hours

  • Tentative Opening date of Monday, June 8th
  • Monday - Friday
    • 7:00am to 11:00am: Hours set aside for organized team practices, FAST and Y Frog Swim Teams
    • 11:00am to 2:00pm: Lap Swim and Camp access, Child Care access to be determined
    • 2:00pm to 6:00pm: Open Swim Hours
  • Saturday and Sunday
    • 11:00am to 2:00pm: Lap Swim Only
    • 2:00pm to 6:00pm: Open Swim Hours
  • Splash Pad and Slide will remain closed until at least July. 

Entrance Limitations

  • A maximum occupancy of 100 visitors on property at any given time. This may increase as restrictions are lifted.
  • No one under 16 years of age will be allowed to enter without an adult.
  • All patrons must maintain social distancing, 6ft apart, unless they are members of the same household, live in the same house currently.
  • If failure to comply, they will be asked to leave the facility.
  • Patrons will be screened upon entry.
  • Entrance to the facility will be marked and be “one way," using both the men’s (left) hallway and women’s (right) hallway for entrance to the facility.
  • Exit will be marked as the gate to the east by the Dive Well, this leads to a sidewalk back to the parking lot.
  • A lifeguard will be stationed at the gate to ensure it is exit only
  • Locker Rooms will have an entrance and exit.
  • Entrance will be the south doors facing the pool.
  • Exits will be the doors leading back to the inner hallways. This allows for a “one way” flow through the locker rooms.
  • All patrons must bring their own equipment, no inflatables allowed

Employees, Cleaning, and Disinfecting

  • Employees will be required to take temperatures and wash hands upon arrival at the facility.
  • Employees will be asked to self-assess at home prior to arriving at work: temperatures of 100.4 or above, and they must stay home.
  • Employees will be required to wear masks, exceptions include: 
  • Conducting patron surveillance
  • Communicating, i.e. blow whistle, talk on radio, make announcements
  • Providing proper care in an emergency
  • Facility will be cleaned and disinfected every 2 hours during operation. 
  • Areas will include but not limited to deck chairs, ladders and rails, guard chairs, rescue equipment, chair lifts, diving boards, locker rooms, benches, showers, sinks, stalls, urinals, toilets, gates, counters, concessions, and employee break area.
  • Facility will be closed and sanitized before reopening after any suspected case of COVID-19 or fecal incident.


  • Employees will be required to wear masks and gloves while working in the concessions stand.
  • Hand washing and hand sanitizing frequently.

Special Events and Considerations 

  • Doggie Pawlooza: August 29th as planned if restrictions and social distancing orders are lifted by that time.
  • Pool Rentals: Beginning in July, depending on social distancing restrictions.
  • Swim Lessons: Possible session in July, depending on social distancing restrictions.

Emergency Action Plans and Rescues

  • With entrance screening, all patrons and staff can be at a lower risk for having active COVID infection.
  • Medical care for non-emergency situations should be conducted maintaining 6ft social distancing, taking history.
  • When direct contact is necessary, the number of care providers will be kept at a minimum.
  • Aquatic Rescues
  • Every effort will be made to minimize direct contact and face-to- face interactions.
  • A rear approach and rescue will be used whenever possible to remove the victim from the water.
  • In-water ventilations will be temporarily discontinued.
  • BVMs (Bag Valve Masks) will be used whenever possible.
