December's Current Condition

December 2, 2019

To our treasured members,

We hope all our members, volunteers, staff, and stakeholder friends had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving holiday.  We were delighted to see so many members and guests using the Y facilities during our Thanksgiving Day hours and through the holiday weekend.  It is gratifying to see the Findlay Family YMCA become such an important part of our members' daily routines.  We are committed to provide convenient and high-quality programming to support all member needs.

I would like to provide a brief update and summary of current conditions at the Findlay Family YMCA.

  • We are pleased to see a steady growth in membership through the fall and into the winter season. We believe the “Y” has much to offer through a broad range of programs and services to meet the needs of individuals and families of all ages.  Please support our efforts by encouraging friends and family to learn more about the advantages of membership.
  • We are proud of the staff and families at the Child Development Center for achieving 3 Star Step Up to Quality designation. Much has been done to meet the state standards for this important recognition.  There is still much work to be done but we believe the CDC is on a continuous improvement path to achieve the top 5 Star status in 2020.
  • We are grateful for the cohort of local companies who came together in an extremely generous way to “gift” the Y with the much needed, beautiful new parking area at the East Branch. We hope this act of kindness reflects the community support for our mission-driven work.
  • Youth sports programming (fall soccer and winter Y basketball), have seen high levels of participation. We are grateful for the dedicated staff and volunteers who work long hours to provide these important programs.
  • We are very pleased with the high level of usage at the East Branch. Tennis, pickle-ball, group exercise, and individual exercise areas are quite busy.  We anticipate this level of activity throughout the winter and are working hard to achieve member satisfaction by accommodating the needs of all our members.
  • Winter is a great time to swim. The aquatics programming is growing with opportunities for youth and adults.  Please take advantage of youth swims lessons, swim team, and the popular “masters” swimming programs.
  • Active Older Adult programming is quite popular with a broad range of activities including yoga, group exercise, cycling, aquatics, tennis, and pickleball. Please take advantage of Silver Sneakers, Optum, and other incentives to join the large community of active adults at both Y locations.
  • We are excited about the growth of the child and family weekend offerings. Family Fun Nights and Parents Night Out programs have become quite popular.  Give them a try.

We are extremely grateful for the broad support of our Annual Campaign.  These donations allow us to execute our cause-driven mission to build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for ALL.

                                             With much gratitude,

                                                              Paul
