Dear YMCA members,

We are pleased by the encouraging news from our governor today regarding all of our programs.

By the end of the month, the Child Development Center will return to traditional childcare.  We are grateful for our staff who took great care to provide support for essential workers as a pandemic center. We will continue to work with a much smaller child-to-teacher ratio and focus on cleaning protocols and restrictive traffic flow through the center.

We wait for further guidance from the state regarding pools, fitness centers, non-contact sports, and camps.  We know that these activities will resume on May 26 but the specific guidelines on how we will execute these programs are still vague.  Our staff has been very busy cleaning, disinfecting, and reconfiguring our fitness areas.  Both branches will look very different from wellness testing, constant cleaning, and restrictive traffic flows.  The west pool was filled today and the east pool will be filled tomorrow.

Our plans include a phased approach to restoring our operations.  While we are all very anxious to begin operations and reengage with our friends we must do it safely to protect our members and staff.  We ask for your patience as we learn together how best to return safely to “normal” operations.

We have collaborated with Hancock Public Health, BVHS, The University of Findlay, Findlay City Schools, and The City of Findlay to develop plans that are consistent and designed to offer clarity. We will communicate frequently to provide the best information available on our plans to re-open.

Finally, I would personally like to express gratitude to all of our members for your support and kindness during these very difficult times.  You “Stayed with Us.” Your trust and loyalty have been an inspiration to our team.  We take very seriously the responsibility to return your Y to you as soon as possible.  We also have as our first priority the safety of all stakeholders.

Please keep our community in your prayers as we begin the process of re-opening.
