More than ever, the Y is in need of your donation and has a goal for their Annual Camapign to raise $200,000.

  • In 2020 the Black Swamp Classic which typically raised between $50,000 to $60,000 to support youth obesity prevention programming was canceled. Generously, the Y still received $15,000, leaving a large gap from previous years.
  • Due to not being able to hold large gatherings the Y did not hold their Annual Glow Run 5K, and will not be able to hold a large Fall Fundraiser, such as 20 Men who Cook. This creates a shortfall of $50,000.
  • Since COVID 19 the Y’s Child Development Center has not been able to operate at full capacity. The Center is currently at 40% capacity with reduced ratios, increased staffing needs and increased expenses to meet sanitation requirements. The center has lost approximately $30,000 of revenue a month since March.

We are grateful to the YMCA members who have maintained their membership and “Stayed with the Y”, but the Y has experienced a decline.
We look forward to when all are back to using the facilities at full capacity. COVID 19 Guidelines call for increased staffing and additional expenses to maintain sanitation. Membership loss has averaged $35,000 monthly since March.

Despite all of these shortfalls the Y has continued to serve your community in the following ways – showing that now, more than ever is the time to support your YMCA.

  • The Child Development Center served as a Pandemic Child Care Center supporting essential employees and maintaining the quality care for the
    children attending.
  • Virtual youth development and wellness classes were offered throughout the pandemic, and continue to be offered after reopening. This was free to all in our community.
  • The Feed-a-Child Weekend Meal Program was mobilized and to guarantee that anyone in the community could have access to free, easy to prepare, healthy food. The program was extended through the summer with support from United Way and the Community.
  • Riverside Pool opened with a reduced capacity and following COVID 19 guidelines allowing families in the community a safe and cool place to enjoy swimming during the summer.
  • Following COVID 19 guidelines youth programming returned with tennis, T- Ball, Day Camp, Swim Team, Swim Lessons and more coming in the fall.

This provided healthy and safe activities for youth to enjoy and thrive throughout the pandemic.

This Year’s Annual Campaign Theme is: There is a Y in every FAMILY. We need your family’s support to continue this important work. Please consider a gift to this year’s Annual Campaign. When you donate to this year’s campaign, you are supporting vital programs and services to the community that have less resources than ever and are needed in this unprecedented time.

Give now for a Better US – The Y can make our community stronger and better. The Y. For a better US.
