Day Camp Counselor

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp.  Creates positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall camp experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals. Ensure participation, retention and enrollment growth.

Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.

Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA. Be friendly, alert and responsive to participants.

Keeps accurate class attendance records.

Lifeguard

To ensure the safety of all swimmers and observers in the pool area, while maintaining a clean and fun environment. Variety of hours available. Must be Red Cross Certified.

 

Light Maintenance & Custodian

We have immediate openings for light maintenance/custodian. Candidates will be expected to perform all facets of light maintenance/custodial duties. 20-30 hours per week. Member Services Representative

Employment Application

Delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Responds to member and guest needs, promotes memberships and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of front desk area.

Principle Activities:

  • Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone contributing to member retention.
  • Greet and assist all members, potential members, program participants and staff in a courteous, professional and friendly manner. Be enthusiastic towards members by learning their names and expressing an interest in their YMCA activities.
  • Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and to the YMCA.
  • Assist existing and prospective members regarding their individual membership needs.
  • Provide membership and program information and requirements in an accurate and courteous manner.
  • Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  • Be punctual for all scheduled shifts and meetings
  • Maintain positive relations with other staff members
  • Manage money and complete daily audit at the beginning and end of each shift

Swim Lesson Instructor

Job Type: Part-Time

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Swim Instructor at Findlay YMCA maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swim classes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines and the American Red Cross, having prepared lesson plans accordingly, and supports members and program participants in achieving their goals.
  2. Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers, members or program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization; helps participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA; and encourages parent or caregiver involvement.
  3. Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers program participants and families to other programs.
  4. Maintains records as required (e.g., attendance, progress reports).
  5. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  6. Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
  7. Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.

 

 

TRX certified instructor

Wellness Supervisor

Job Type: Part-Time

Would you like to support branch operations and administration by ensuring members’ needs are met and the facility is safe and clean? As the Building Supervisor, you will monitor the facility to ensure staff and members are adhering to YMCA policies and practices.

If hired for this position you will walk through the building to ensure safety guidelines and cleanliness standards are maintained and members’ needs are being met.  You will be responsible to ensure staff and members are in compliance with YMCA policies. 

You will support staff by providing breaks and assist staff as needed, support the Membership desk and Welcome Center, and respond to facility maintenance needs in an appropriate manner.

Weekend opening and closing shifts available with the opportunity for additional hours throughout the week.

 

Y-PAC Supervisor

Interacts with new and existing members to help them in achieving their health and well-being goals. Creates a welcoming environment for all members of all backgrounds and abilities. Key function is to promote our core values of honesty, caring, respect, responsibility, and faith.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Supervises children in a fun and safe environment.
  2. Communicates with the children and their parents to build positive relationships.
  3. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
  4. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
  5. Utilizes information and equipment to keep the children engaged.
  6. Conducts orientations of equipment and YPAC room to new members.
  7. Maintains and cleans equipment as requested by supervisor.
  8. Be visible in the YPAC; 100% of your shift.
  9. Be visibly standing and interacting with the kids; 95% of your shift.
  10. Take all issues and concerns to your direct supervisor.
  11. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

CURRENT:  Mon – Thurs: 4:30 – 7pm

Summertime ONLY:   Mon – Fri: 8:30 – 12:45pm  /  Mon – Thurs: 4:30 – 7pm
