The YMCA Child Development Center is a State-Licensed Center providing care to children from 6 weeks old thru 5th grade. All teachers are trained in Early Childhood Development. We incorporate the "Creative Curriculum Program" in our lesson plans beginning with the infants and continuing through the toddler and preschool program. We offer a "Developmentally Appropriate" program which offers a balance of structured and unstructured activities, active and quiet times with indoor and outdoor activities.

Infants: 6 weeks to 18 months

The infant rooms offer full and part time care for children beginning at 6 weeks of age through 18 months. Our infant teachers provide nurturing developmental care. The infants receive regular developmental screenings and daily physical activities to promote large and small motor development. We encourage the use of Infant Sign Language to promote communication skills.

Toddlers: 18 months to 3 years

The toddler rooms offer full and part-time care for children ages 18 months to 3 years old. Our youngest toddler room provides nurturing care and guidance to encourage self-help skills in young toddlers before moving to a potty-training toddler room. We offer two toddler rooms that continue to promote self-help skills including potty training, language development, social and emotional development in a play-based learning environment. All children will have a developmental screening by trained staff during the first 30 days of attendance.

Preschool: 3 years to 5 years

The four preschool rooms offer a "Preschool" setting while providing full time and part time care for children while parents work or attend college.
Our preschool rooms offer a play-based developmentally appropriate program that offers many opportunities to discover, explore, be challenged and problem solve through direct experiences. Our preschool rooms offer diverse choices that can lead to independence, self-confidence, self-control and a sense of responsibility preparing children for kindergarten. We offer swimming which includes a weekly swim lesson and a fun swim.

Before and After School

We offer care and transportation for children beginning with kindergarten thru the 5th grade. We transport to and from all of Findlay City Schools, Faith Academy and Liberty Benton, as well as after school transportation from St. Michaels school. Snacks, activities and homework help is offer in the after school program. We will provide care and transportation also when school has been delayed due to fog or snow.

Non-School Days and Cancellation Days

For scheduled, non-school days we will have planned activities, field trips and swimming for children attending kindergarten thru the 5th grade. On cancellation days we will provide care and activities at the Child Development Center.

Y Summer Adventure

Y Summer Adventure is a state-licensed program which offers a safe atmosphere during the summer with peers for learning and fun. For a safe, fun and exciting summer, join our program designed to provide a positive environment for independent growth. We place children in small groups based on their age. Lesson plans include art, science, cooking and theme-base activities. We offer daily field trips and monthly trips to Camp Mosshart.
